1 WHY A BLOG?
This is an experiment initially based on creating an international forum. Once things get going, the situation can be reviewed.

.The blog model suits the subject matter. Since the date at the top of this page - November 08 - the website system has been added. It is part of the experiment.

The blog component of the site is free, and easy to manage from the site designer’s perspective. Signing in, passwords and payment are not required by the user who can contribute at will.

The main problem with many conventional websites is that buttons only allow a word or two. That can lead to confusion. This blog system allows a better description within the link pages. There is a choice of two "All-Links" pages since the website was added.
2 WHY A SYSTEM OF BLOGS?
This refers to the collection of pages which form the overall site. As the site is not being used as a blog with latest posting at the top of a long kitchen-roll page, it is hoped that it will prove useful.
3 MAIN AIMS OF THE WEBSITE
3.1
To create an international forum for debate on issues relating to Gastronomy .
3.2
To advance discussion of Gastronomy and a definition of it.
3.3
To develop Gastronomy as a subject of study.
3.4 An international gastronomic journal
As such, it would offer virtually instant reaction to content.
There would be a section for student contributors.
Since so much of what students produce in the form of essays and other course work is written on computers, they could pass their output to the public domain. (Blogs, as has been said, are instant and free.)
If that is in the context of the assessment result, students can console/praise each other, while the world assesses Campus X against international standards.
Anyone can create another Gastronomy blog and send the address to which it can be linked.
To start the ball rolling, I have republished (weblished?) extracts from my two books as well as making etexts of them both. There are some previously published papers as well.

Also within these pages is the outline of and extracts from my manuscript on Scottish Gastronomy.
4 OTHER AIMS
4.1 An academic resource base
Those with smaller contributions could just post their latest source(s) with comment as to why the submission was made.
4.2 A communication resource base
There may well be better blog or free website systems which come forward. These can be put forward using 4.3.
4.3 An international discussion forum
A chatroom is a chatroom and it would be invaded by gastro-chatters wanting to say:
Here's my Fav recipe.
Best wine this week at ….. .
“Did you know that in Multiplicamia, they eat dog-legs stuffed with desiccated doughnuts?”
The aim is to develop gastronomy, not belittle it.

The discussion and definition aspects have started. Explore the site at your leisure, at your table, at peace after a good meal with valued friends. Let us hope to be at the same table one day.
